AEM granted new sTC for MTP136D P25 forest service radio
Structural Monitoring Systems Plc (“SMS” or “the Company”) (ASX:SMN) is pleased to announce wholly owned subsidiary, Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp (AEM), was granted a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for its modern MTP136D P25 forest service radio.
Designed with the United States Forest Service (USFS) and aerial firefighting operators in mind, the MTP136D is a Project 25 Phase 1 compliant VHF FM solution for digital and analogue communication on all channels across the 136MHz to 174MHz frequency band.
It is easily integrated for tactical systems, platform upgrades, and is a plug-and-play replacement for existing legacy radios.
The MTP136D is already shipping and being installed on aircraft throughout North America.
AEM Sales and Marketing Director Mr Tony Weller commented:
“We’re very happy to see our new radio gain this important certification.
Mr Weller said that the Transport Canada awarded STC #SH24-21 is a significant milestone for AEM, as well as for operators providing aerial firefighting services using the industry workhorse Airbus H125 (AS350) aircraft.
“The aim is to get these radios to those who need them as quickly as possible, and this STC helps integrators make that happen.”
“This acknowledgement makes it even easier for those on the front lines battling intense wildfires to have the most up-to-date communication equipment at their fingertips,” he said.
AEM’s new STC covers the installation of the MTP136D for all aircraft in the Airbus H125 (AS350) series.
With the radio in extremely high demand since the announcement of its launch in late 2023, the certification will help speed up the process of updating many operators’ fleets with the latest in aerial firefighting communication technology.
Mr Weller said that there was an addressable market of more than 3,000 radios that could potentially be replaced with this technology within the next few years representing a strong market for AEM moving forward.
SMS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ross Love commented:
“This is a great achievement and milestone for AEM on the road towards full acceptance by the USFS and a reflection of the commitment, skills and experience of the entire AEM team.
“I congratulate everyone involved in marking this STC and for continuing towards their next major certification with the USFS.
“This announcement follows on from Boeing’s confirmation that the Company’s CVM™ Smart Sensor Solutions have successfully met all outstanding Aft Pressure Bulkhead (APB) tests on the path towards critical submission to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for approval and signals an exciting period for the Company moving forward.”
